3.5 stars rounded up.I really liked the plot of this story, but did find it a little dragged out. There seemed to be too much detail that wasn't really needed to move the story forward. Overall I enjoyed the story and will be looking for the next part but I hope it isn't as bogged down.

FUBAR is a paranormal tale about the Frontline Union Battalion of Arcane Resistance whose job it is to battle monsters and protect the world. This is one of those tales which throws everything at the reader in terms of supernatural action, yet does say in a manner which seems at least semi-plausible. As such it becomes very immersive and hugely exciting. The writing quality is to a good standard, with a fast pace, plenty of action and touches of humour. The world that King has created reminds me a little of Buffy spin-off Angel, and the book will definitely appeal to that audience. The characters are one of the main selling points; their imaginative designs being wonderfully indulgent. The book is a reasonable length, but is not too long. The author has clearly taken the time to trim the excess, if only all indie authors would take note. The price is very reasonable reasonable and makes FUBAR a worthwhile purchase. Why not give it a go?
