If you're a fan of Pippa Grant or ridiculously funny romance novels featuring sexy hockey players then Charming as Puck will be right up your alley. It has all of the riotous comedy, heart-stopping love, and sexy prankster hockey players that you love in Pippa Grant's books. We've met Nick and Kami in Beauty and the Beefcake and Charming as Puck references some of the events that happen but you don't need to have read it to enjoy this story but it makes this story even better. If you're looking for a riotously good time, then pick up Charming as Puck. These books keep getting better and, if you read them in the order published, then each book you get to see some more of the other couples HEA's which makes them even better. Pippa Grant has quickly become one of my favorite authors where I can look forward to a rollicking good time and lots of laughs.
Want to know the secret remedy for stress, aggravation or just sheer boredom? A Pippa Grant book. As much as I’d like to tell you that it doesn’t matter which Grant book you read, because they’re all zany, hilarious, sexy and heartfelt, this book somehow has more of everything. Between canine neuticles, the world's most awesome cow-dog, Johnson-Wankers, a Halloween party gone off the rails due to dueling phobias, epic apology gifts, and glitter, of course, there's never a dull moment. (FYI, with Grant it’s never simply “glitter,” but always “glitter, of course.”) And once again I find myself trying to explain to the hubs why I’m laughing hysterically and that, no, I’m not choking and I don’t need the hemlock. (Yes, we say “hemlock" in my family, thanks to my Malapropos-stricken uncle.)
Our pucking charming hero in this book is Nick, and along with being a prankster to rival the Burger twins he’s kind of a selfish butthead. He's also arrogant and adorable, cocky and charming, and egotistical and endearing. It’s enough to give a girl whiplash, but it's also no wonder Kami has been crushing on the infuriatingly endearing hockey goalie since high school. Veterinarian Kami is sweet and compassionate to all species (except clowns) and generally accepting and forgiving. But now that she and Nick have been friends with benefits for months and he forgets the one day of the year important to her, we find out that she has a not-so-sweet side. She's had enough of being nothing more than an afterthought to Nick, and she's done.
Amidst all the hilarity and pranks, this book has a surprising amount of heart. The bad-boy prankster gets quite the incentive to take a fresh look at himself and his life and discover who he is outside of hockey. The hole Kami leaves in his life shows him how his future life might look, and he doesn’t like what he sees, which prompts some well-thought apology gifts and a campaign to show Kami how he really feels about her. His legendary redemption is humorous, because you can’t take the prankster out of the hockey player, but it’s also heart felt, poignant and sweet, and enough to make any girl lose her heart. With appearances from some of our favorite Grant characters, cameos from Maria Luis’ Blades and Lili Valente's Badgers, a sweet but strong heroine, and a badly behaving hero you can’t help but love, this hilarious but heart-warming, swoony read is unequivocally 1-click worthy!

I feel like I’ve reached the point where I can’t claim to avoid over the top romantic comedies at all cost when I just keep coming back for more from Pippa Grant. To be fair though, she’s one of the only authors I trust to be able to combine that OTT humor with a really sweet story that’s full of heart and substance and THAT is why I keep coming back.
This is Nick and Kami’s story. We met them both briefly in Beauty and the Beefcake, which seems fitting because these are my two favorite books from Pippa.
Nick is a prankster and a player who doesn’t really do relationships and doesn’t really pay much attention to anything or anyone outside of hockey. That is until his lack of attention to details ends his friends with benefits relationship with his younger sister’s best friend, Kami.
Kami has been half in love with Nick for years and getting to sleep with him is like a dream come true, until she finally has to face the fact that he doesn’t really see her and will probably never want more than a FWB relationship with him.
What ensues is a hilarious journey of begging for forgiveness, getting revenge, falling love and a whole bunch of cow-related fun.
I loved that in between all of the pranks, the hilarious birthday gifts, and the ridiculousness of having a pet cow-dog, there was a real and honest love story. We see the broken and scared side of Nick and the strong yet vulnerable side of Kami and just how perfect they are together.
There’s also the fact that we get a lot of Ares in this book and that I loved Nick so hard that he gave Ares some competition as my favorite hero in this crowd of misfits. Two amazing book boyfriends is always better than one, right?
